A Long Walk to Water

          This book, A Long Walk to Water, was told between 2 point of views. Nya was a young girl in southern Africa in 2005. She always dreamed about having clean water in her country. She always used to fetch water from a lake for her and her family. But it was never clean. She had no choice to just go with it and drink it. The temperatures in South Sudan wouldn't drop below 70 degrees Fahrenheit year round. 
          The other point of view was told about a young boy named Salva. But this part took place in 1985. As a couple of years went by, during a brutal war, Salva grew up to realize his family had abandoned him to go hide from the soldiers in the war, which were often by their home. Salva was left alone. He was on his own until he found a kind family miles away from his home in southern Sudan.
          After more years went by, with Salva remaining with the kind family, he turned 22 years old. By that age, he couldn't stand the dirty water. It made millions sick and depressed. Salva wanted to make a change for everyone. He wanted to travel around the world to spread the word about drilling into the ground to receive clean water for all of Africa. He was then sent to the U.S by his new family, to chase his dream. He arrived in Rochester, New York. He was excited, but he also worried about his country of Sudan. He wanted to make a big change and help everyone in Africa to get clean, fresh water. His new family encouraged Salva to help his country. So, they bought him a plane ticket back to Sudan just to visit. He spoke in many different churches, community centers and even at some homes to explain his plans. He started getting paid money once he hired drillers to search for clean water deep beneath the ground. Salva then traveled to other countries to talk about this plans as well. Once he returned to Sudan sgain, the drillers were drilling, and it was successful. Everyone thought he was a true hero. On the day that the drillers discovered clear water, he was with a big crowd of people waiting to drink the water. And one of those people in the crowd, was Nya.
